PECHA KUCHA - FUTURE of PRESENTATION?
Hi guys,
Today, I have a fabulous teacher, namely STEVE - he is "Bule", you know...
And the important thing is that about the way he taught in my class in IALF - BALI.
I remembered first time he entered the class. He brought his big black briefcase. He also seemed unfriendly.. no greet, no smile -- NOTHING. he set up all of the tools in class by himself. And of course no one wanted to help him, yeah because his scary face. Oh my god!
But,,...After he finished preparing everything. Spontaneously he was staring at Us, giving us his fantastic smile and ...The first word come from his mouth "hi" he said. We were shocked. It was a beautiful smile. And I personally did not believe he could change class environment become so warm just with his simple word "HI". it was a miracle I thing. then, he greet us so warm..made us feel so comfortable.
And...
HE Began to give us a very interesting topic. PECHA KUCHA!.
Do you know what is it?
You do not know?? Really???

me too, hehe I also didnt know about what is PECHA KUCHA till Steve explained and gave us the simple example of PECHA KUCHA.
As my own conclusion - PECHA KUCHA in education term (teaching process - especially in presentation)is a part of scaffolding (support the teaching process)which is using PPT or Power point as a media of giving our presentation. It was very unique technique. why? because Steve give us his PECHA KUCHA Power point in 6 minutes and 40 seconds for his 20 slides...Can You believe it? 20 slides in 6 minutes40 seconds!!
You should believe me guys..it is true. that's why I called it a magic.. PECHA KUCHA is Magic..Why??
because Steve delivered all of the content about "tabla"- a traditional music instrument in India so perfectly..He explained everything about it just using the picture he showed in his PPT PECHA KUCHA.
Finally, after the class ended, he asked us to make our own PECHA KUCHA PPT and we must present it next Thursday. 20 slides in 6 minutes and 40 seconds... 20 seconds for every slides..and each slides must contain only a picture or two pictures.. and we must..of course ..deliver it in English.
He gave us some criteria of PPT PECHA KUCHA
1. Using 20 pictures, with the time is 6'40", so each slide is 20"
2. Words less than 15 words/ slides - better using no word
3. No template from laptop will be accepted
4. better using no video or if we want, just make it only in 20 seconds
5. Using Arial font is better
6. Good and clear picture
7. Nice transition- but minimize the transition itself..
and others...
So, I have to decide what topic i am going to present next week..Hmmm...Do YOU HAve Any Idea?
